PRESS RELEASE n. 2

www.internetforpeace.org

Wired on the occasion of the Internet for Peace project launch dedicated to nominating the Web for the next Nobel Peace Prize, is setting up a special purpose-built site, www.internetforpeace.org. An entirely no-profit initiative wherein all cyber citizens can meet and debate upon issues relating to peace and global communications.

Designed by Ogilvy, www.internetforpeace.org will go online in English commencing November 20. The web space will feature the many details concerning the Internet for Peace project. First and foremost, the manifesto driving the nomination, published and translated in as many as 15 languages: anyone wishing to support the Internet as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010 can sign the nomination roster. Moreover, signatories may submit their own language version of the Internet for Peace poster so as to further enrich the channel of brotherhood and communication lying at the heart of its text. The video equivalent of the manifesto may be "embedded" by all those wanting to add the Internet for Peace mission to their webpage.

www.internetforpeace.org will provide ample room to the project's ambassadors: the Nobel Peace Prize winner Ms. Shrin Ebadi, the first signatory of the manifesto; Professor Umberto Veronesi; fashion designer Mr. Giorgio Armani; Wired Italia Editor, Mr. Riccardo Luna; Wired USA Editor, Mr. Chris Anderson; Wired UK Editor, Mr. David Rowan. Web denizens can therefore enjoy access to the history of each of these Internet for Peace ambassadors and the grounds on which they have embraced the cause for nominating the web as the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Winner

An eye-catching area has been reserved for the subscribers of Internet for Peace - a page for all those signing in their names for supporting the project. The screen will roll out a giant planisphere scrolling down the names and countries, in real time, of all those supporting the Internet for the next Nobel Peace Prize. Just to drive home the point of the extent to which the Web can crumble barriers, shorten distances, blur frontiers far and wide by transforming the beliefs of each one of us into a global force for peace.

Visitors to www.internetforpeace.org could then contribute to the campaign by Wired through the creation their own content on the subject. A click on media will provide access to videos submitted by users about their vision of Internet for Peace or photos and snapshots on the subject. The website will be accompanied by a dedicated You Tube channel.

Institutions and Corporations supporting the Internet for the year 2010 Nobel Peace Prize will also be listed on www.internetforpeace.org .

The Internet for Peace website has plenty of features ready to offer a say to anyone wishing to debate a plain truth of our daily lives: the Internet is the greatest instrument of opportunity Humanity has ever had to spread the message of peace.
