Umberto Veronesi Scientist
I'm fully aware how unusual and bizarre it may appear when I advocate the Nobel Peace Prize to a means of mass communication instead of the traditional individual or a group of people. However, I'm convinced, in the future, that anyone scrolling down the roster of past winners wouldn't bat an eyelid when finding Internet alongside the names of Al Gore and Barack Obama; the list would actually offer an appropriate snapshot of the age we are living in. The Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the Web would convey a dual meaning to future generations: firstly, how we had grasped the extent of the global revolution that the Internet has brought into our daily lives; secondly, how determined we were to put the Web to better use in the interest of mankind.
